ARMCHAIR
TRAVELER – NYC’S BLACK HISTORY
This
illuminating paperback guide to the city’s African-American
landmarks, restaurants, museums and historical sites serves a
vital slice of the Big Apple, from Harlem’s well-known
Sylvia’s Restaurant, where soul food reigns, to the more
obscure spots, such as the Queens home of black inventor Lewis
Latimer, who invented the carbon filament in the electric
light bulb. Everybody must know about the Louis Armstrong House in
Corona, otherwise you just aren’t paying attention…You
wonder if Bill Clinton got an advance copy.
